  1. “Postgraduate Studies Programme ‘Education Sciences’”

The Postgraduate Studies Programme (Greek: PMS) of the School of Early Childhood Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aims at creating scientists - researchers in the field of Education Sciences. It offers postgraduate students the chance to specialise in five (5) specialisation pathways:

PMS graduates will have acquired the theoretical and empirical foundations and skills that will allow them to occupy themselves in various professional and research fields related to school, as well as non-school centres for education and socialisation. Parallel to its research objectives, the PMS also aims at training education professionals of higher level, specialised in the development of teaching programmes and educational management.

The School also offers the following Inter-departmental and Inter-departmental/Inter-institutional Postgraduate Studies Programmes.

1.  Inter-departmental Postgraduate Studies Programme “Psychopedagogy of Inclusion: a school for all”

The students will be specialised in one of the following specialisation pathways:

a) Psychopedagogical Components of Special Education Needs

b) Psychopedagogical Components of Multiculturalism

In the 1st specialisation pathway graduates can work in the public or private sector, besides the field of education, in institutions for People with Special Needs (Centres for Creative Activities for children and adults with special needs, NGOs, PWD Associations, Daycare Centres, etc.).

The 2nd specialisation pathway graduates can work, besides the field of education, in non-governmental organisations with emphasis on culturally and linguistically diverse students.

2.  Inter-departmental Postgraduate Studies Programme “Specialisation in Environmental Education”.

Through this programme the students will have the chance to review the official classic Unesco texts, to specialise themselves in issues of pedagogical methodologies and to study the newest theoretical research trends and the relevant epistemology schools of thought. Special emphasis will be placed upon the status of EE in modern Greek schools.

3.  Inter-departmental Postgraduate Studies Programme “Total Quality Management and Innovative Applications in Education”

The scope of the Postgraduate Studies Programme is the promotion of research in the field of Management in Education, with emphasis on the quality and the introduction of innovation in education, and the provision of specialised knowledge and skill development for postgraduate students regarding issues of Management of Education Units and specifically Quality Management and innovative applications in educational institutions.

4. Inter-Institutional/Inter-departmental Postgraduate Studies Programme “Education Sciences - Learning Technologies”

The subject-matter of the postgraduate studies programme is Learning Technologies. It is designed to offer scientific knowledge and high level professional skills for the creation of specialised scientific human potential in the field of educational applications of digital technologies, and to promote research in the scientific field of learning technologies.

5.   Inter-Institutional/Inter-departmental Postgraduate Studies Programme “Teaching Mathematics”

The main objectives of the postgraduate studies programme are the following:

To provide the field of education with professionals and specialists in the teaching of Mathematics.

To develop knowledge and strengthen educational activities regarding issues such as harnessing new technologies in the teaching of Mathematics, Mathematics education for groups of children with difficulties in mathematics, inclusion of history and culture in the teaching of Mathematics and the teaching of Mathematics in education of adults and lifelong learning.

6.  Joint Greek-French Postgraduate Studies Programme
“Multilingual Educational Approaches and Language Policies. Diffusion of Languages and Cultures in Multilingual Contexts”

The Joint Greek-French Postgraduate Studies Programme “Multilingual Educational Approaches and Language Policies. Diffusion of Languages and Cultures in Multilingual Contexts”, will neither take place nor offer new positions during the current and the following academic year.

The objectives of the programme comprise the development of participants’ skills regarding multilingualism, multiculturalism and intercultural communication, so that they can contribute to the smooth integration of children in the current multicultural and multilingual educational and social environment.
