Since 2009 she has been the coordinator of Polydromo Group for bilingualism and multiculturalism in education and society (http://polydromo.web.auth.gr/index.php/en/) researching various aspect of language contact and learning.

She participates in the research programme  Migrant, “Investigation of adolescent digital literacy practices for the design of Modern Greek Language teaching to youth of new migration background” for the period 01/2020-06/2023, which is coordinated by prof Dimitris Koutsogiannis and in which, apart from AUTh, the University of Hamburg and Macquarie University (Australia) are participants.

Since 2020, as the director of the Confucius Institute of AUTh (http://confucius-institute.web.auth.gr/en/) she supervises its projects and researches the contact between Chinese and Greek and the teaching approaches that promote the learning of Chinese for speakers of Greek.

Studies

Roula Tsokalidou is a graduate of the English Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1989) and a PhD holder from the Department of Linguistics, Monash University, Australia (1994).  Her PhD was on code-switching among second generation Greek-Australians. She has extensive experience in issues of education and communication concerning (im)migrants and refugees. Since 2009 she is the head of Polydromo (http://polydromo.web.auth.gr/index.php/el-gr/), a group about bilingualism and multiculturalism in education and society. 

Since 2018 she directs the Confucius Institute of AUTh and coordinates its projects (http://confucius-institute.web.auth.gr/en/)

During the academic years 2019-2021 she served as the head of the School of Early Chindhood Education of AUTh.
